Mark Mutter: violin
Mark Mutter is a registered Teacher Trainer with the Suzuki Association of the Americas. He received his Bachelor and Master of Violin Performance studying with Walter Schwede, Angel Reyes and Camilla Wicks. He is the Executive Director of Suzuki Royal Oak Institute of Music. He oversees 14 teachers who teach over 170 students. He has been a clinician at Workshops and Institutes throughout the U.S. and has led the SRO Camerata Tour Group to Disney World, England, Austria, The Czech Republic, Italy, Greece, Canada, Spain, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany and Ireland, as well as a 2010 appearance at Carnegie Hall.
Charles Regauer: violin, viola
Charles Regauer is string Teacher and Administrator for Suzuki School at Centenary College. He received a B.A. from Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul – Brazil in 2010 and a M.Mus. from the University of New Mexico in 2014. Mr. Regauer has been teaching violin and viola since 2006 and completed the Long Term-Training for all Suzuki Books in violin with Susan Kempter. Also, he has continued his teacher training in viola with Elizabeth Stuen Walker, Bill Preucil and Sarah Montzka. He attended other teaching courses with Mimi Zweig, Barbara Barber, Winifred Crock, Nancy Jackson, Doris Preucil, Laurie Scott, Mark Mutter and Pat D’Ercole. He has taught in Suzuki workshops in Brazil and Mexico, having fun learning and teaching; sometimes dressed as Gandalf or Waldo, playing scales, movie songs, Bach Minuets, leading the viola groups or teaching master classes. Currently, he works at the Centenary College of Louisiana as a violin/viola instructor and administrator to the Centenary Suzuki School in Shreveport, LA. When he is not busy working, Charles Regauer likes to make coffee and try different coffee beans from the world. Also, he likes to play video games, ride his bicycle, play soccer, golf, hiking, build paper airplanes, make barbecues and read.
Dr. Shu-Yi Scott: cello
Dr. Shu-Yi Scott is a registered Suzuki cello teacher trainer, internationally respected clinician, and passionate mentor to teachers around the world. Her teaching is known for its warmth, clarity, and effectiveness—bridging deep musical knowledge with practical strategies that inspire both teachers and students. Originally from Taipei, Taiwan, Dr. Scott now lives in Austin, Texas, where she directs the Scott Cello Studio and the annual Austin Cello Festival, a vibrant celebration of community, pedagogy, and performance. She currently serves as President of the Austin Youth Orchestra, where she champions inclusive ensemble training that nurtures both musical excellence and student development across all levels. As a member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas Training Committee (2023–2025), Dr. Scott plays an active role in shaping the future of Suzuki education. She holds a DMA in Cello Performance from the University of Texas at Austin, where she studied with legendary pedagogue Phyllis Young, and an MM from Penn State University under Dr. Kim Cook. She earned the SAA Certificate of Achievement in 2015 and became a Suzuki Cello Teacher Trainer in 2019. Over the years, Dr. Scott has trained and mentored more than 400 cello teachers worldwide through Suzuki teacher training courses, workshops, and customized coaching. Her signature style blends child-centered pedagogy with structured sequencing, making the Suzuki philosophy come alive with clarity and joy. Whether helping a new teacher feel confident with Twinkles or guiding an experienced teacher through advanced group class design, Dr. Scott brings insight, energy, and grounded support to every session. She is especially passionate about multi-level group class pedagogy—empowering teachers to lead inclusive, skill-building group experiences that unify beginners and advanced players. Her group class approach makes the Suzuki philosophy tangible, turning group time into a joyful, motivating cornerstone of studio life. Complementing this work, her unique Learning in Motion online resources offer innovative, tactile-based strategies—using toys, props, and games—to help students internalize cello technique through joyful, movement-rich learning. Dr. Scott also co-created the free resource “Shu-Yi & Merlin: Let’s Talk About Music Teaching”—a reflective video series with Canadian Suzuki piano teacher trainer Dr. Merlin Thompson, offering thoughtful conversations on creativity, sustainability, and meaningful teaching. Whether through teacher training, festival leadership, or her own studio coaching, Dr. Scott is committed to helping teachers worldwide feel supported, empowered, and inspired in their work.
Crystal Plohman: violin, fiddle
Crystal Plohman is no stranger to the wide world of fiddling styles or to the Suzuki Method. As a performer, clinician, pedagogue, composer, and inspiration to thousands of young players, she has dedicated the past 25 years to sharing her knowledge across the fiddling spectrum.
Raised in the Suzuki program as one of the first students of the late Alison Rhyles and the Brandon University Suzuki program, Plohman went on to follow in her father’s footsteps as champion Canadian fiddler. She won her first national championship at age 12, and went on to win various other titles, including provincial and state titles, as well Grand North American Champion. She is the only person to place as a top finalist (Top 4) in both the Canadian and American Grand Masters Championships, as well as the Canadian Open Fiddling Championships.
After successfully competing for 15 years across Canada and the U.S., Plohman moved to Nashville in 1994 after an invitation from Mark O’Connor to teach at his first fiddle camp and to be his assistant in his fiddle program at Vanderbilt University. After teaching and aiding in the organization for the first 11 O’Connor Fiddle Camps, Plohman later went on to serve as director of the fiddling program and created the summer International Fiddle School.
Plohman performed regularly with Chet Atkins, and has shared the stage with other country greats including Patty Loveless, Vince Gill and Clint Black. She has performed and presented workshops around the world including Ireland, Belgium, Japan and China. She has performed as fiddle soloist with several symphony and chamber orchestras across the country.
Plohman is most widely known for her work with children and teachers in her clinic program, “Connecting the Strings,” sponsored by Knilling String instruments, which has been presented at hundreds of schools and educator conferences across the country since its development in 2000.
She has served on the ASTA alternative styles committee and presented at ASTA national conferences as fiddle clinician and master class instructor, as well as featured presenter at the Music Educators National Conference and various state educator conferences. She has served as fiddle instructor and is a regular at many weekend workshops, fiddle camps and summer Suzuki institutes including Chicago, Atlanta, Memphis, Maryland, Florida and Colorado and Manitoba. Her compositions and fiddle arrangements have been published through Mel Bay and Alfred Publishing.
Daniel Gee Cordova: violin, viola
Daniel Gee Cordova is founder and director of the Austin Suzuki Music School. He has extensively studied the Suzuki Method in Violin, Viola and Suzuki Early Childhood Education with a broad scope of teachers. He holds degrees from the Crane School of Music - SUNY Potsdam and the University of Texas at Austin. In May 2012, Daniel was awarded the Suzuki Association of the America’s Certificate of Achievement, a recognition given to teachers that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to excellence in their teaching.
Daniel is an active clinician giving presentations at National Conferences as well as guest teacher at workshops around the country. He has presented at the Suzuki Association of the Americas conferences (2010, 2012) ASTA conference (2010), Texas Music Educator's Conference (2014, 2016), Texas Orchestra Director's Association Conference (2015, 2016), and web conference presentations for the SAA Parents As Partners (2012, 2013, 2016). Daniel has been invited to guest conduct the Texas Region Middle School String Orchestras for Region 11 in San Antonio and Region 18 in Austin. In the summers, Daniel serves a Director for the Greater Austin Suzuki Institute and has been on faculty for different Suzuki Institutes around the country.
Daniel performs regularly serving as Assistant Principal Viola with the Austin Opera. Mr. Gee Cordova previously served as Orchestra Director at Chisholm Trail Middle School in Round Rock ISD from 2009-2019 infusing the Suzuki approach to students within the public school system. Outside of teaching and performing, Daniel enjoys spending time with his husband Jerry, their foster child, Liam, and their terriers Bamboo and Tristan, and finding the best tacos in Austin.
